Displaying remarkable driving skills in multiple races, the 22 year-old Brit by way of Pleasanton, California, especially impressed Orbis judges with his maneuver to pass Ford CEO Jim Farley. 2022 Honorary Winner: Alex Zanardi

On August 20, 2022, Orbis Brakes presented its first Stellar Performance in Braking Award to Alex Zanardi in recognition of a move so famous in motorsports history that it’s known simply as The Pass. On the final lap of the Indy season finale in 1996 at Laguna Seca, leader Bryan Herta and Alex Zanardi entered the braking zone at the top of The Corkscrew. Alex unexpectedly dived left to the inside and came out hot on the outside with the lead, and moments later, the win. A stellar performance we’re still talking about today.

Alex’s determination and perseverance both on and off the track have been an inspiration to everyone. Orbis Brakes has donated $5,000 to Alex’s chosen charity, the Beyond Sports Foundation.
