Revolutionary by Design

The proprietary design of Orbis Brakes utilizes a floating centerless rotor and inside out caliper to reduce the weight of the rotor’s mounting hub, while the wide diameter opening pumps a higher volume of air through the vented chambers, significantly lowering brake temperatures.

The larger format creates more leverage and a more efficient force, allowing Orbis Brakes to use a 50% smaller brake pad to further reduce weight, increase overall efficiency, and lower brake dust emissions.

This revolutionary new dynamic allows Orbis Brakes to operate cooler as they get lighter, and enables OEMs to calibrate these values to the specific needs of each market segment.

    • Large format creates greater leverage, more efficient braking force
    • Floating centerless rotor dramatically increases cooling dynamics while lowering weight
    • High efficiency allows 50% smaller brake pad, further reducing weight and brake dust emissions
    • Adaptable format enables OEMs to calibrate these values to the specific needs of each market segment.

The Definitive Advantage

Lighter

20% – 50% lighter than conventional cast iron disk brakes

Cooler

40% cooler then comparable brakes at a given weight

Safer

Zero evidence of dangerous brake fade

Greener

Ultra-efficient automotive solution anticipates upcoming non-exhaust emission regulations

Smarter

Technology calibrates to create lower cost and higher performance products across the brake spectrum

An Automotive Breakthrough Years in the Making

They are arguably the most important part of the vehicle and represent a $20.9 billion global market. Yet, vehicle brakes have not seen a disruption since the 2001 introduction of the carbon-ceramic brake, a high-cost upgrade that did not translate to millions of cars and trucks on the road.

That is about to change. Through proprietary design innovations developed with NASA, Orbis Brakes has pioneered next generation brake technology that delivers lighter, cooler, safer, and greener performance across the brake spectrum.

It’s an unprecedented achievement that offers a world of opportunity.

2014

Orbis Wheels is founded with a focus on improved powertrains for electric vehicles.

2017 – 2020

Ongoing design innovations reveal light-weight, low-cost aerodynamic solutions that can be applied to the $20.9 billion global automobile and truck brake market.

2021

Orbis Brakes is founded. Proprietary PeriodicWave™ technology developed with NASA demonstrates the most significant disruption of the brake industry in 20 years.

2022

Orbis Brakes begins collaborations with major OEMs, retailers, and aftermarket specialists.

2023

Orbis Brakes debuts the FutureWave, a revolutionary centerless rotor and wheel assembly delivering dramatically lighter, cooler and cleaner brake performance.
